What to Expect in a Golf Evaluation

One of our most popular services is the Golf Evaluation. Golf Evaluations are 2 hours in length with a Performance Specialist. By the end of the session, you will have:

  1. a clear picture of how the body works in golf

  2. a better understanding of how your body is currently working - unique movement patterns and areas for improvement

  3. a plan for getting better

Evaluations are useful for athletes of all skill levels ages 12 and up. We recommend one parent accompany younger athletes (younger than 18) to help their child make relevant notes.

Prior to your golf evaluation, you will receive an email with appointment time, what to expect, and a New Client Form. You will need to wear comfortable athletic clothes and tennis shoes and bring your w, 3w, and 7i (if available).

At the beginning of the evaluation, your Performance Specialist will ask some questions - your experience, current level, goals, etc. He or she will ask if you have experienced any golf-related pain or injuries. This will let your specialist know if there are any particular areas of the body that need to be assessed.

Next, you will be introduced to the ETRAK system. The ETRAK Phoenix is a small wearable device. It collects real-time 3D motion data (range of motion, speed, and acceleration) at different points on the body or club and sends it to our ETRAK Analytics software. You can see all movement data on a wall-mounted screen.

Third, you will be led through the ETRAK Movement Screen*. This series of 3 tests will help your specialist understand your strength and control in movement patterns crucial to golf. This screen will require a little effort but is not strenuous and can be modified to fit each athlete's abilities.

Following the Movement Screen, you will be taken through a Swing Analysis. During this process, the Specialist will look at your positioning and speed during a golf swing. For advanced golfers and return Evaluation clients, 2 sensors may be used to collect data on swing ratios or "sequencing".

Finally, your specialist will explain the findings, major takeaways, and areas for improvement. You will receive different options for improvement that may include: private training, small group training, ETRAK Pro golf performance app, or a Re-Evaluation. Recommendations are based not only on the athlete's results but also skill level, goals, and time constraints.

ETRAK Golf Evaluations are also fun! Expect to learn a lot about yourself and how you move. And if you have a lot of questions - that's great! The ETRAK system will allow you to see movement in a way you have probably never experienced before, so the more questions you ask, the better!

*Movement Screens are dependent on the athlete and his/her goals or skill level. Some clients may be taken directly to the Swing Analysis and spend more time in this section.
